Dr. Molly LeRoy revealing the winner for the 2022 Hear for the Holidays Giveaway

We’ve Got a Winner for the 2022 Hear for the Holidays Giveaway

Hear for the Holidays began in 2009 as a way for one audiology practice to give back to their community. Since then, the competition has been taken on by hearing care centers in the United States and Canada. At House of Hearing, we’ve made Hear for the Holidays part of our story.

Hearing loss can be a greater obstacle over the holidays than at other times of the year. One of the aims of Hear for the Holidays is to bring awareness and support to those who need it. To enter the competition, friends and loved ones nominated someone with hearing loss with video or written submissions. The winner gets new hearing aids and audiological care, but selecting one is extremely difficult. We appreciate every application, but we can only choose one person.

House of Hearing is pleased to announce the winner of 2022’s Hear for the Holidays competition. Let’s give a warm (digital) round of applause to… Carolyn from Northern Utah!

The Winner: Carolyn

Carolyn is caring and generous to everyone, but her daughter said that she doesn’t do anything for herself. This selfless attitude is a common trend among nominees. “It would help for her kids not to repeat themselves 30 times,” Carolyn’s daughter said with a knowing smile. Carolyn’s smile lit up the room, even when she was asked about her hearing loss.

When asked how hearing loss affects her, Carolyn was momentarily speechless. It sounds like a simple question, but for someone with hearing loss, it isn’t. She gazed into the distance, thinking of her next words, but eventually waved off the question. When Dr. Hankins came into the office holding brand-new hearing aids, Carolyn looked thrilled. On top of winning the competition, she was also celebrating her birthday. After sharing the good news, our staff fitted and properly adjusted Carolyn’s hearing aids. We’ll monitor them going forward and give our best audiological care to Carolyn.

Without hearing loss standing in her way, we’re excited to see what the future holds for her.

We’re overjoyed to be able to give back to our community, but narrowing the nominees down to a single person was extremely difficult. We wholeheartedly thank everyone who entered a loved one’s name into the Hear for the Holidays event. Your support motivates us. Just like the mountains of Northern Utah, life has its ups and downs. Be there for the people you love. We can all do our part to support those with hearing loss, especially during the holiday season.
