Three Common Hearing Aid Repair Issues
We’ve repaired thousands of hearing aids over the years. In our experience, there are three hearing aid repair issues we encounter most often.
- Wax buildup that penetrates into the delicate electronic components and causes them to malfunction.
- Excessive moisture leads to shorting or the interruption of connections due to corrosion.
- Broken components and loose wires can be the result of daily wear, dropping, and/or stepping on your device and/or faulty components.
Quick Tip: Most of these issues can be avoided when you develop a faithful habit of proper daily cleaning and care of your hearing aids, avoid getting them wet, and perform frequent inspections of your device to identify problems before they get worse.
Just like regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance extend the life of your car, deep cleaning and scheduled maintenance with your hearing care provider can improve the performance and longevity of your hearing aids.
Repair Service
When your prescription hearing aid isn’t working, regardless of the cause, getting it repaired as soon as possible is the key to continuing to enjoy the quality of life and independent lifestyle your prescription hearing aids provide. Most hearing aid repairs can be done in our office while you wait, but tougher cases may make it necessary for us to send them off to the manufacturer for repair or replacement.
Keep in mind that when we send your hearing instrument to the manufacturer, we send them using either Federal Express or DHL, and the manufacturers return them using express shipping as well. By doing this, we ensure that you have them back in your ears as quickly as possible, but the shipping charge will be an expense you need to be prepared for.
Loaner Hearing Aids During Repair
When your hearing aid repair can’t be completed while you wait, or we have to send them back to the manufacturer, we keep a variety of different styles of devices on hand in order to provide you with a loaner while your device is being repaired.*
Though our loaners probably won’t be exactly like your regular instrument, they’ll do in a pinch, allowing you to continue to receive the benefits of better hearing without missing a beat.
*We only offer loaners to devices under warranty
Advanced Hearing Aid Dryer
Even when you’re faithful about keeping your hearing aids clean, hearing aids collect moisture over time. Since moisture is a major enemy of the delicate electronic parts in your device, making sure that they stay dry and free of corrosion is critical.
House of Hearing applies advanced hearing aid drying technology capable of removing all the moisture from your device using a combination of vacuum drying with humidity level measurement to vaporize liquid in as fast as 15 minutes.
