ASSESSMENTS

When Was Your Last Hearing Test?

Although we all regularly have our teeth checked, our blood pressure taken, and our cholesterol tested, we rarely have our hearing tested.

Yet with the latest statistics suggesting that 1 in 8 Americans have a hearing loss in both ears and the World Health Organization voicing their concerns about the noise exposure of our young people, understanding the first signs of hearing loss has never been more important.

One of our biggest frustrations is that people simply don’t recognize or choose to ignore the first signs of hearing loss, which means that when they finally visit us, we’re often tasked with finding a solution to save your remaining hearing, whereas if we were visited upon the first sign of hearing loss, we could have done something about it.

These are the reasons that regularly testing your hearing and recognizing the first signs of hearing loss are so important.

As you’re on this website, it’s highly likely that either you or a loved one have concerns about your hearing and you’re unsure what to do.

Your first step should be to schedule a comprehensive hearing assessment.

This quick, non-invasive assessment will allow us to accurately understand your exact level of hearing loss and, if required, take the precautions to allow you to continue to be at your best.

Schedule A Hearing Assessment

#1 – We’ll Get to Know You

The first step is to get to know you, understand why you have visited us, and discuss if you have any hearing loss in your family.

#2 – We’ll Look Into Your Ears

We’ll then take a quick look inside your ears to see if there is anything physically blocking your ear canal. Sometimes a suspected hearing loss can be because of a build-up of earwax or fluff in your ears.

#3 – You’ll Sit in a Sound Booth

You’ll then enter our sound booth where you’ll wear a pair of headphones as we play a range of sounds to you. These sounds vary in frequency. All you have to do is let us know every time that you hear a sound.

This allows us to understand what you can hear and what you cannot hear.

#4- We’ll Review the Results

You can then leave the sound booth and we’ll be able to share the results of your hearing assessment with you.

If a hearing loss is discovered, we’ll be able to discuss your options with you.

Would you prefer to get started with an online hearing screening?

When I realized I was hearing words wrong and asking people to repeat what they were saying, I decided I better have my hearing tested. The experience I had at the House of Hearing was amazing. I compared it to an earlier hearing test that I had a year before with a different clinic. The other clinic told me I had hearing loss but they did not address my problem. Liz Hankins at the House of Hearing immediately treated me like I mattered. She told me that my problem was bad enough that I could be helped with hearing aids. She recommended some hearing aids for me and explained everything in detail. I was able to wear the hearing aids without any problem right from the start and now I can hear so much better. I don’t think you can find a better clinic with such excellent hearing care professionals anywhere.
