Oticon

Oticon Hearing Aids

American-Danish Oticon Corporation became the leading provider of hearing aids after World War II, becoming a global company in 1965. However, Oticon is one of the oldest manufacturers of modern hearing aids, which were first introduced as electric Acousticon devices in 1904.

The company’s first ultra-discreet in-the-ear (ITE) hearing device went on sale in 1977, and Oticon released its first digital device in 1996. The first devices with improved sound sensitivity as well as streaming and connectivity features were brought out by Oticon in 2007.

A “people first” approach that includes what Oticon terms “Brain Hearing” along with the development of Life Changing Technology for hearing aid users are what motivates the company’s innovations in the 21st century.

Hearing Technology Solutions From Oticon

Oticon’s Brain Hearing philosophy involves providing the necessary support the brain needs to process sound rather than just amping up the volume of sound. This approach led to the development of the Opn solution in 2016, which enhanced the ability of the device wearer to distinguish between multiple speakers within a noisy environment.

Opn also became the first hearing device to provide internet connectivity (ConnectClip) using the IFTTT (If This Then That) Network. Digital technology has been a part of Oticon’s hearing technology solutions for twenty-five years, helping it to become an innovative leader in the development of higher quality of sound and enhanced instrument performance.

Taking advantage of streaming capabilities, Oticon integrated Tinnitus SoundSupport into its hearing devices, making white noise and other tinnitus masking sounds available for auditory relief.
